A Biography of Roland Holt

Roland Holt was born in Dorchester, Dorset in 1940 and educated to ‘A’-level standard in Art at Poole Grammar School. With a long-standing fascination for cars, he left to take up an engineering apprenticeship with the British Motor Corporation (later British Leyland and then Rover) at Longbridge, Birmingham. A later move to the newly-established Ferrari dealership in Bournemouth heightened his love of racing and sports cars. It was here that the Ferrari 250, GT and GTOs and Ford GT40s were prepared for racing. Roland remained in the motor trade until the eighties when he moved into precision engineering.
In recent years, Roland’s artistic talent and eye for detail have become combined with his passion for racing cars. He now paints spectacular miniature and larger format pictures in mixed media of cars, racing drivers and motor racing scenes. His work is rapidly becoming sought after by collectors and car enthusiasts alike. With his obvious artistic skill and his love of the subject, Roland Holt will surely be a name to remember.
