Karen Brown is something of an enigma. After nearly thirty years connection with Poole Pottery, much of it as a highly skilled but traditional Poole artist, a tendency towards highly figurative design could be expected. However, Karen produces astounding abstract studies involving her audience by drawing the viewer into a complex yet discernable interpretation of her artistic world. Perhaps the seeds of this stem from her involvement with the original ‘Delphis’ painters of the seventies blossoming in her impressionistic ‘Old Harry’ and ‘Viking’ creations using ‘inglaze’ techniques. Her highly individual style has translated perfectly to the ‘Living Glaze’ phenomenon, keeping her at the forefront of ceramic design. |
