Some track record.
Katie has always been a perfectionist and really enjoys her creative framing
no matter what the subject, and we certainly get a few challenges.

Towngate Framing revels in framing the unusual and quirky items as well as the more traditional framing work. We take in restoration work, take pride in our conservation framing and thoroughly enjoy the designing of the frames and mounts for the many different items we have brought into us from as far away as London, North Devon and the Midlands.
We understand how important the frame is to enhance the picture or item being framed but we also understand that the frame must be humble to the image or item and not detract from its importance, it is a fine art the professional picture framer must learn and we fully appreciate how much it can mean to a client to get it wrong. We will happily colour co-ordinate the framed work with the clients' decor and advise on the best ways to display artwork and protect it from fading and the ravages of time. At Towngate Framing we also have a studio that specializes in the repair, and re-printing of old photographs and the printing and stretching of canvases for our clients. The largest to date is a 5.7metres x 1 metre canvas for a local hotel bar and restaurant.
Overall we like to feel that we help our clients to enjoy their visit to our workshops when they bring their special items to us and we so enjoy giving them a framed item that they will have pleasure from and treasure for many years.

Towngate Framing proudly boast two Guild Commended Framers to produce quality framing of oils, watercolours, embroideries, tapestries, certificates and photographs, limited-edition and open prints, medals and many more unusual items.... even the odd cake or two !!!, and all at very reasonable prices.

We have been framing for a quarter of a century and have always prided ourselves on keeping up with the latest innovations as well as keeping the traditional skills and values of our framing, that we are so well known for. We keep over 750 different frame mouldings in stock and have a very wide range of mount boards styles and colours to help get the correct balance with your interior. Added to this a second to none knowledge of framing techniques and method, we like to think we can frame anything that our clients bring in to us. We are proud of the fact that we haven't turned a job away in over two decades and we have had work recommended to us from other local framers who have had large or complicated jobs that have been beyond their workshop capabilities.

We Frame to all five levels of the Fine Art Trade Guild standards, depending on our clients requirements and budgets.

Below are just a few of the unusual things we have had brought into us to frame for clients
walls.

Train Name Plate
The makers plate had to be bolted on
to a previously sprayed aluminium backing plate before the frame construction could take place.
This was one of two that we did
 for the same client.

Large Turkish Rug
This hand made Turkish rug was one of our biggest jobs, and took a day just to stretch. It was valued at £10,000 and had to be framed using full conservation methods and materials.
Hand Painted African Tiles
These hand painted Tiles were the pride and joy of our client's African safari and we enjoyed designing a box frame that was simple, yet complimentary to the native feel of these beautiful tiles.
Large Photo Collage
This very large photographic collage was over 2 metres long and had to have laminated glass and security bolt fixings to ensure safety.

Ceremonial Sword
This sword and scabbard had to be removable for wearing on special occasions. We achieved this by building specially made brackets into an oak cabinet for display without compromising it's removal.

Netsuke Box
We were recently commissioned to make a little cabinet to hold a client's collection of ivory netsuke's.
England Football Tickets
These tickets were a very fond memory of an England game that a client went to see for the first time with his son.
The Queen & Telegram
A telegram from Queen Elizabeth to celebrate 100 years of life. such an achievement and a joy to frame.
