Anne Corless

Anne Corless works in the creative arts as a fine artist and illustrator, designer and writer. Working in a variety of media; from pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, watercolours, acrylics and oils to digital artwork Anne creates artwork on commission and for galleries and exhibitions in the UK and abroad.  Where possible, she uses her artwork to help support favourite charities.

Keen to help others develop their artistic skills, Anne enjoys teaching art workshops, sharing her artistic process with both beginners and experienced artists when she visits venues as Artist in Residence.  A keen conservationist and supporter of animal charities and wildlife conservancies, Anne is always delighted to be invited back to ‘Nature in Art’ in Gloucestershire.  As a Derwent Ambassador, she loves spending time at the "magical" Pencil Museum in Keswick, Cumbria, giving free art demonstrations and teaching workshops which being informative and fun usually have a number of artist returnees, keen to further develop their skills each year.  Anne is also an Ambassador for St Cuthberts Mill.

Anne has worked as Artist in Residence with BBC Radio Lancashire and taught a BBC Radio Masterclass on portraiture to an invited audience with a model, live on air.  She has worked as Project Manager on a design project with BBC Radio Merseyside and Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and has also run art workshops; all requiring live interviews.  Anne is a regular contributor (artist/ writer) to Leisure Painter magazine in the UK and an Art Demonstrator for Leisure Painter and The Artist Magazines.

As a Guest Lecturer on Fred Olsen Cruise Ships Anne looks forward to inspiring others to learn and improve their watercolour and general art skills on each cruise with her art workshops.

With a keen interest in the ‘business side of art’ Anne gives talks and presentations for the Fine Art Trade Guild including at the Spring Fair International, the Art And Framing Convention UK  and Making Picture events.

Anne is Chair of the Fine Art Committee of the Fine Art Trade Guild, and is a previous Branch Master in the North West.  She is a Signature Member of Artists for Conservation, “The World’s Leading Artist Group Supporting the Environment” and was honoured to be AFC’s ‘Artist of the month’ in December 2013.  A Founder Member, former Chair and Honorary Life Member of the Association of Animal Artists in the UK she enjoys joining in with AAA events where possible.  Anne is also a professional member of the Anatomical Society (UK), the Association of Illustrators (UK), Association Européenne des Illustrateurs Médicaux et Scientifiques, the Medical Artists Association (UK), the Association of Medical Illustrators (USA) and the Writers Guild of Great Britain. She is also a member of the Portrait Society of America and the Cecelia Beaux Forum (USA). She is a Professional Associate Member of the Society For All Artists (UK).  Her medical artwork features on Wellcome Images (UK) and in the Medical Illustration Sourcebook (USA) and she produces artwork on medical, scientific and zoological projects for clients around the world.
